humanity
The evolution of humanity, from one advancement to the next.
Brazil has burned rainforest areas twice Chile's size last two decades.
Brazil's federal government does not admit it, but the numbers of forest devastation don't lie. From 2000 to 2019, the 5th largest country burned 18% of its territory, reaching 579,000 square miles burned in the last twenty years. These numbers were published this Monday by a local newspaper showing which areas were degraded most.

Astrology
Since ancient times humans have looked up to the stars with wonder, observing there movements and deciphering meaning from this. Ancient star gazing was once seen as something of higher learning. Today the study of the stars has become astronomy which is considered scientific and astrology which is considered occult, unscientific and often silly. A product of modern thinking.

Infinity’s Heroine
Once, in the time of the first people, a young man from a small tribe was hunting. His family needed meat badly. Just as he drew back his bow to shoot an arrow into a fat and juicy rabbit, a voice behind him startled him. “Please spare her.” it said.

Technology is making us into sheep.
So many of us think we know the answers to everything but really we're not even thinking for ourselves anymore. All of our answers are from articles we read from the Internet or popular opinions that we read on social media. It's hard not to be bombarded by these ideas. This is basically how advertisement works. It's not your fault that you're thinking these things. Algorithms and data structures have been studying you carefully throughout the years.

It had been about two months since I met and started teaching Samuel how to read. I was impressed by how quickly he picked things up, though it was surprising that no one in his old community wanted to teach him this stuff. History is the one thing we can learn from, thus a necessary thing to remember. But maybe it was that they did not see the reason to since so much of the population had been wiped out. Maybe they had lost hope for the future of humans, and learning to read and write was the last thing on their minds.

What Could Turn The Earth?
The Earth continued turning, the speed all at once imperceptible and nauseating but its weight on us measuring all the same. The turning of the lonely planet never quite made sense, but it was always present... Until it wasn’t. On the day the Earth stood still we stumbled, tripped over ourselves and our neighbors. Some accused the other of not looking where they were going, that they didn’t fall, they were shoved. All the same everyones' knees had hit the ground in one moment of yielding. Some people got to their feet in the days following, wiped dust from their hands and continued walking, saying, don’t you see? We can move even if the Earth isn’t, and others said, you’re wrong.

The Man with the Box Tattoo. Second Place in Body Art Challenge. Top Story - October 2020.
A portal exists on my left arm. Simple lines of ink bearing the bends that a canvas made of skin dictates, forms a cube open at one end. When the world around me consumes my will, when this reality pumped by a beating heart and rhythmic breaths misses a beat and grips my throat, I turn to the box on my arm.
