A berth in the sectionals wasn’t bad either. But the merit still meant playing fourth seeded Peekskill and their 14-6 record. No complaints, John Jay’s good early start didn’t hold up after a long season.

John Jay's Season Comes to an End at Clarkstown South

Clarkstown South on the other side, a three point second quarter lead looked like the girls might bust the bracket early. But unfortunately the sixth seed pulled even and eventually held their end up.

John Jay Moves to .500 with Big Win Over Somers

For the Wolves, the strategy was simple. “Just be aggressive, that’s really it,” said Will Civetta, “make them handle the ball.” .And forcing six turnovers in the first quarter definitely left a mark that Somers could not erase.

Lakeland coming in to spoil the party, the Hornets took a five point halftime lead, and the prospects of breaking even were in doubt. So the Wolves took a chill pill.

This time at Somers, all the noise didn’t complicate the Wolves game plan, and Colin Bishop revealed the simplicity on the receiving end.

This time at the high school on Friday February 7, a one point second quarter game didn’t look so bad for the visitors. But in almost a blink, John Jay did all the talking that needed to be done.

After Late Game Loss to Fox Lane, John Jay Rebounds with Win Over Somers

On the other hand, the Wolves were missing Jane Brennan, and Sela Halaifonua got in early foul trouble. So the Wolves obviously needed some filler on the scoreboard, and with everyone one moving up a notch, the first one off the bench definitely did her part.

John Jay Wins Easy over Riverside

Riverside scored the first five, and John Jay did not get on the board until three and half minutes came off the clock. No problem, John Jay scored most of the points the rest of the way.

Avalanche Keeps Rolling with 2-1 Victory over Rye Country Day School
Please see tip, pledge and subscribe buttons or my venmo is : @Rich-Monetti Rye Slideshow On Tuesday January 28, the Avalanche girls hockey team took to the Brewster Ice Arena and faced Rye Country Day School. They skated to a 2-1 third period lead, and while the outcome was in doubt, the bottom line wasn’t for Abigail Lehr of North Salem. “I would have been happy with a win or a loss, just as long as I’m with the girls I love,” Lehr assured. Just the same, the game still required a decision, and the Avalanche definitely had to sweat it out.
