Paint Your Life Yourself. The Rainbow of Life’s Needs

Your life? It's pure art - you hold the brush

By Eliza WoodstormPublished 5 days ago 3 min read

Sometimes, to figure out what’s missing—or what’s overflowing—you just need to visualize it. Grab some colored markers, pencils, or even a plain pen, and two sheets of paper. Any size works. The first one? That’s your now—how you’re living right now. The second? Your future—how you want to live. Fill them with your life. Use whatever tools feel right, and I’ll walk through this with you.

1. Color – Red.

Passion, energy, love, strength.

Draw a square the size of how much love, strength, and fire you feel in your life today. Go by gut—big if you’re loved and loving, blooming inside. Medium if it’s quiet. Small if it’s gone, or you don’t miss it. On the future sheet? Make it whatever size you crave. How badly do you want this color to flood your days? Here’s my example below.

2. Color – Orange.

Enthusiasm, warmth, creativity, fun.

This is the color of a soul on fire. How many lights are on inside your “me”? How often do you notice your own spark? How ready are you to bend, play, forgive your slip-ups, open up to new stuff—and to the world? Jot notes: “now” and “want.”

3. Color – Yellow.

Happiness, optimism, energy.

Focus here on connection—accepting people, their mess, their spot in your world. Can you let others screw up without judging? Can you shine for them, heart wide, no strings? How disappointed are you in humanity—and how willing are you to step in with hope and real care?

4. Color – Green.

Growth, nature, freshness, harmony.

The color of slow, steady becoming. No rat race, no envy—just stretching toward light at your own pace. We all grow differently—some fast, some quiet—and that’s fine. Sometimes you gotta pause, breathe deep, refill oxygen before the next step. Paint it: how often do you let out that deep ? How often do you stop to inhale? On the second sheet, show yourself how full you want it to be.

5. Light Blue

Sky after a storm—hope, tenderness.

This one’s dreamy, fresh ideas, soft views. Not a shout—just inner hush. Breathing room for yourself. When your inner kid whispers: “Thanks for being you. I love you, just like this.” Color it how you see it.

6. Blue

Trust, stability, depth.

Diving deep—self-reflection, no hugs, just raw truth. But also rock-solid. Like a navy suit at an interview: you show up steady, sure. Strength to weather your own “heavy rain,” to pull yourself together when others quit. Draw it: who are you now? And who do you want to be?

7. Purple

Mystery, intuition, empathy. Cosmic haze. Balance of light and dark, quiet alert. Thick, wrapping, the most enigmatic shade of soul.

You’re walking through fog in your mind—no clue what’s next. If you love twists, surprises, but purple’s barely there—add some. If you crave steady but purple’s drowning you—swap in light blue or deep blue, cut the mental loops, clear the haze.

As you can see, my real life story isn't fully filled in – there are gaps, blank spaces on the canvas. And that's okay. It's not empty, it's open. There's room to add, to grow, to reach – and honestly? That's kind of beautiful. Never be afraid to grab the paints and explore your life from every angle. Paint it, wipe it clean, and keep trying over and over.

So we’ve colored our life-canvas. Now we’re set—to tweak, balance, grow. You’re the artist. You’re the hero of this page.
