For better or for worse, relationships reveal the core of the human condition.
A Day in the Life on Jost van Dyke
'Rock bottom became the solid foundation on which we rebuild our life again.' Looking back, some of my fondest memories have been in the British Virgin Islands at Soggy Dollar Bar in White Bay. Sitting underneath the big palm trees in a hammock staring out at the clear, blue Caribbean Sea while enjoying a 'Nilla Killa. Yesterday wasn't one of those days; it was different. I have grown close to many in the Jost community over the past seven years as their close-by neighbor in St. Thomas. It's easy to get to know 1/3 of the island when there is only a population of 300 people.

I'm in Love With an Addict
It all started 8 years ago. I was working at a gas station in a small town one over from mine. I moved there from mine so that I could build the store back up on its feet again. My second morning there, in walked this guy. Dark hair, deep yet bright blue eyes, and a smile that could make anyone freeze in their tracks... Then melt where they stood. He got a pop and came up and said hello. In my mind I just KNEW I wanted him in my world. So I said hello back and rang him up. We made small talk like most cashiers and customers do, and then watched I him as he left. After that it was routine with us. He came in every morning. Got a drink and chatted a moment then left. A few months later I had the store in order and went back to my own. Completely sad that I would never see Blue Eyes again...

Sex Roles #1: You Are a Straight Male. You Are a Hugger.
This article will be the first of a series. Let me speak for myself only. I’ll be the baseline for this one. I’m a hugger. I wrap my wife in my arms and tell her I love her whenever the mood arises. She would have to be in a receptive mood, of course, but if she is ... watch out. I’m out for bear as I appreciate her more than I could ever express verbally. And I want her to know.

Dude, That’s Not a Brag...
Today in the United States, everything has a label and these labels cause a huge divide among us as a society. It’s getting harder to have personal conversations at work or school without conflict, especially after the recent Trump win. These labels immediately cause conflict...a man mentions hunting and suddenly he is racist, a woman down the hall is gay so she must love Hillary and disrespect the troops. These claims are simply not true! What ever happened to being judged by our individual merit, work ethic, and character? We seem to prejudge people so we can become pleasantly surprised when they don’t disappoint us, but are we so weak that we must protect ourselves in this way? There is a better solution: make friends with everyone, but lead by example.

The Reason Why You Hate Me Being Black
From the beginning of dawn we were picked on, talked about, de-valued, hated, treated un-fairly...the list most definitely goes on. However, it didn't stop us. In fact, it made others think of different ways to tear us down and also apart.

Better to Have Lived Than to Have Done Nothing
I never thought something like this could happen to me. I'm a confident person, someone who does not fear death. I've been through hell and back; therefore what could be worse in life than that? Until I met her, that is.

Untitled Chapters 3 & 4
Chapter Three The rest of the day kind of flew by, which I was very grateful for. I rushed home as always, just so I could be in the comfort of my own room. Like always as soon as I get home I am forced to socialize with my mother and father. Don’t get me wrong, I love them more than anything on this earth, but they always ask the same questions and I always give them the same answers. I think they are hoping one day I will come home and tell them it’s all been fake this entire time, and that I made it all up in my head. But it’s never going to happen that way. Same shit different day is what I always say.
