Potential signs of life discovered in volcanic glass that is 1.9 billion years old
Microscopic trails found in ancient volcanic glass have been identified by scientists as fossil traces left by bacteria that burrowed into rock around 1.9 billion years ago. This discovery reinterprets long-disputed markings as proof that life was actively searching for nutrients in one of the first seafloor habitats on Earth.

The demise of the ancient oceans occurred gradually rather than all at once.
A significant global cooling event that occurred approximately 34 million years ago did not result in a single marine extinction catastrophe, according to a new analysis. Rather, it developed as a sequence of intermittent biological disturbances throughout ocean environments.

A young girl has been identified as Britain's oldest human remains.
The earliest human remains found in northern Britain are those of a girl who died at the age of three, some 11,000 years ago, according to scientists. More than 11,000 asteroids have already been found by the New Vera C. Rubin Observatory.
Over 11,000 new asteroids have been discovered by scientists in a brief period of time. The discoveries have arrived in a wave rather than a gradual accumulation, leading scientists to reconsider how busy and intricate the environment is. These objects, which range from ice worlds far beyond Neptune to rocky bodies close to Earth, each contribute a tiny bit to a much bigger narrative.

The Unbelievable Chile Mine Rescue
It is August 5, 2010, at the San Jose Gold and Copper Mine in Chile. More than 2,000 feet below the surface, a couple of miners notice a faint rumbling sound echoing through the rocks. The miners have heard rumblings like this before as the rock adjusts to new excavations, but today these rumblings are much more frequent than usual. The time is 2:00 PM, and the workers are trying to wrap up as much work as possible before they will be picked up by a work truck to go to the surface for lunch. Suddenly, they hear something much louder than the previous rumblings. The blast sends those working on the higher levels to the ground and causes the tunnels and shafts to collapse. Large rocks tumble down, sweeping across the workers, and all they can do is hang onto them and ride it out. The San Jose mine has just collapsed, trapping 33 men beneath the surface.
