This Is The Greatest Show! Or Is It?
"Ladies and gents, this is the moment you’ve waited for!" I, like so many eager fans of musical theatre, have been anxiously awaiting the release of Hollywood’s newest musical The Greatest Showman. The film starring Zac Efron, Zendaya, Michelle Williams, and Rebecca Ferguson is inspired by the story of American showman, politician and founder of the Barnum and Bailey Circus, P.T. Barman, played fearlessly by the great Hugh Jackman, and follows Barnum from his humble beginnings to becoming "The Greatest Showman." And even though it continues to rake in at the box office and has even earned an Academy Award nomination, it has to be said that this passion project of Hugh Jackson’s, which took over 7 years to get made, is not without its faults. So, with that being said, I have a compiled a list of 10 reasons why I both loved and hated The Great Showman.

Review: 'Devilman Crybaby'
This past weekend, I finally got to unwind and catch up on all the new anime that’s been coming out. Aside from My Hero Academia (which I think is really good, so far), I finally got to sit down and watch Devilman Crybaby, a Netflix original that premiered on the platform on January 9th.

'Beauty and The Beast' 2017 Movie Review
First things first, I enjoyed the movie. I'm not saying it's worth an Oscar but it's not a terrible movie despite it being a remake. Compared to The Jungle Book and Cinderella Disney Remakes, I'd say it's worth an Oscar, hands down.

Movie Review: 'Just Charlie'
Just Charlie left me an emotional mess. This story about a boy realizing that he is a girl is one of the most emotional experiences that I have had watching a movie. I like to believe that I am an ally to people like Charlie and most certainly am in my heart. Just Charlie, however, reminded me that I have so much to learn and to understand about the experience of someone who is struggling to be whom they really are.

'Before I Wake'
Okay. Where to begin? I suppose at the beginning. In its entirety, this movie seems to hold to the traditional late 20th and early 21st century cinematic values of taking what should have been a good film based on a solid concept and utterly ruining it with shitty writing, shitty acting, shitty directing, and shitty editing. Production values are pretty decent and the special effects are similarly decent.

Hostiles stars Christian Bale as military officer in the New Mexico territory who has spent over a decade fighting against Indians and securing the new American west from the people who rightfully owned that land.

Movie Review: 'Maze Runner: The Death Cure'
The problem with the first two movies in The Maze Runner franchise was simple mediocrity and blandness. The films weren’t terrible, they weren’t poorly made; the movies’ just didn’t leave much of an impression. The expansive, bland but handsome teen cast was too large and not well developed enough as individuals to be memorable and lead Dylan O’Brien wasn’t bad either but the script did him few favors.

'The Greatest Showman': A Review
As a huge fan of musical theatre, the moment I heard there would be a new musical movie I was already on the edge of my seat wanting to buy tickets. I then saw Hugh Jackman in the title role and my interest was piqued even more—I, admittedly, am a huge fan of his work. However, due to family commitments I was unable to go to the opening night showing and had to wait to see the movie. As the days went by, I began to think: am I gearing myself up too much for this? We’ve all seen time and time before, an excellent cast does not necessarily mean an excellent movie, and the more excited we are, the harder we fall. I tried to let myself down gently, to not think about the film I was so excited to see, to try and convince myself it would be mediocre at best so that when I’d seen it, it would either let me down a little or raise me up. I needn’t have worried so much. I was squirming with excitement in my seat despite my efforts—and The Greatest Showman (TGS) not only managed to deliver, it blew me away.
