The Pettiest Thing I Ever Did To Justify 3 Dots of The "Fame" Merit
Regular readers know that not only am I a fan of the World and Chronicles of Darkness setting, but that I have a special place in my heart for Changeling: The Lost. A game that evokes beautiful madness in every aspect, I've loved it ever since I first picked up the manual, and I've played it at nearly every opportunity I could find. However, a majority of my time as a player was spent in organized play under the Camarilla/Mind's Eye Society, and it was the paperwork requirements of that organization that led to quite possibly one of the funniest moments I've ever had as a player attempting to justify to the powers-that-be why I should be allowed to have something restricted on my sheet.

Tarkov's New Armor System is Both Complex and Interesting
So today we are going to be talking about the new armor system in Escape From Tarkov. But I want to mention early on that this will not be about the science of the new system and whether it’s working as intended. More so just talking about how the armor system has impacted the game from all angles. Building armor and kits associated with it, fighting, and how the new plates system allows for some interesting sneaky plays. It was something that we’ve known about for a long time, and while it isn’t the fully customizable chest rigs that were teased many moons ago, this is the next best thing for sure. After playing for about a week, looking at a lot of the armors and different available soft armors and plates that are in the game, the system itself is much more complex than what it was previously. Whether or not that will be a benefit or determent to the game we will have to keep playing and give a better verdict later in the wipe. But for now, what I have seen firsthand is that the whole system allows for much more flexibility in regard to how you construct your armors. There wasn’t any real wiggle room with making one type of armor have a different material. But now, that possibility is in the game. Which might create some sneaky situations where you are running previously known low-tier armor but now have powerful plates in it. There are so many layers to this system that we can talk about, so let’s get into it. Tarkov's Newest Patch Changed Recoil and the Game Forever
Many of us consider Tarkov Patch 0.14 to be the most content rich and the most impactful update in the game's entire history. And it’s easy to see why people are suggesting that notion. New map, new recoil, updated movement, changes to previous maps, new armor mechanics; the list is gigantic. And since we will be tackling these all in their own videos, I figured let’s go over arguably the biggest change to the game, the new recoil changes to all weapons. Some might say the armor system is more impactful, and while there is an argument there to be had, the primary way we engage with Tarkov is with weapons and shooting others with weapons. For the longest time, Tarkov has had an incredibly intricate and complex weapon and ammo system in the game. But it was generally marred by how recoil worked in the game. Weapons that had an initial high amount of kick, and then slowly by the end of the magazine leveling out and becoming accurate. It never really made sense, and plenty of weapon enthusiasts made their dismay with the system known. But now, it has been fundamentally reworked from the ground up. And let me just say this right now, it’s good. Arguably too good in some circumstances, but we’ll get to that. It’s not perfect, at least to me. There are a couple of very minor things that I've noticed that hold it back from being legendary. But the fact we got an update to recoil at all, and of this caliber is truly something special. What is Escape From Tarkov? Escape From Tarkov is an immersive first-person shooter, set in a fictional Russian Norvinsk Region. The atrocities that the mega Corp Terra Group have been conducting behind the scenes have set the area into a warzone, fighting over territory as well as survival of the inhabitants that live there. Your primary method of play is a PMC; either from the American United Security (USEC), or from the Russian Battle Encounter Assault Regiment (BEAR). Your goals in the game are to complete quests for the variety of traders in the game, level up with each of them as well as your account, and to survive. That’s the primary focus of the game; being able to handle the harsh world that is Tarkov, dealing with the AI citizens that have armed themselves to defend their land, themselves, and combating other players to get out safely.

Have Both a Good Ending (and a Bad One) For Your Character

Maybe we want to earn a knighthood from the king, defend the realm from a dire threat, or to avenge the death of a loved one, but whatever it is, we usually have some idea of what a resolution to our character's story looks like.

Tarkov's Arena Launch is a Disgrace
Arena’s launch and everything that has happened since then has been nothing short of a disaster. I normally try not to be so superfluous, but this has been an awful experience. And I mean that in the sense that I haven’t experienced arena because I still don’t have access. And the fact that apparently, people on twitter are bugging BSG for access and getting in, whilst people who have had EOD for years are still waiting is disgusting, disrespectful and shameful to sit back and watch. The worst part? Arena is fun! Like genuine good ass fun. Sure, the gameplay loop is marred with issues, grind, and complete unbalance, but running around in arena and shooting other players is such a good time. But everything... everything around the gameplay is such a problem. Access issues, balance, unnecessary grind; this was supposed to be a massive and relatively easy W for BSG. I can see why they waited so long to release it now. It was never fully ready. Granted, we knew that going into it, but my god is it worse than we thought. This whole thing is just so disappointing, if I may be real for a moment. I was excited to jump on and test things, give some feedback, but alas I am not in yet. So, for the time being, I guess we’ll just go over what I’ve witnessed watching a lot of arena and figure out what direction the ship should be steered in.

The RMR in Tarkov is One Example of Awful Optics
Tarkov is known for its brevity of attachments on offer to customize your guns with. It’s honestly intimidating when you first get into weapon modding proper in this game, with all the different options and locations that these pieces can be placed on. And while there is a surprising amount on offer, when you really understand the mechanics of weapon modding, there are only a handful of options that are worth using if you are trying to make the most out of your weapon. Of course, variety is the spice of life, and using different weapons, optics, suppressors, foregrips; switching these parts out every now and again helps cure some of the potential boredom that can come with late wipe Tarkov. Using the same weapon with the exact same attachments repeatedly. And yes, some people enjoy that gameplay loop and only want to use the best to have the highest chance of survival out there. There’s no shame in that. But when it comes to attachments and specifically different optics in the game, everyone has their own preferences with certain dots and scopes on different weapons. Obviously, things like the Razor and Vudu will always be highly sought after because they are so effective in what they do. But even with smaller optics like red dots, people have their own favorites. And unfortunately, over the years, BSG has made some... let’s call it “adjustments” to how some of the red dots and scopes in general operate in the game. Specifically, the RMR micro red dot sight has been absolutely gutted in Escape From Tarkov, and it is unfortunate, because for the longest time, it was one of the better micro dots in the entire game. Today, I want to talk about this red dot, go over what happened to it, and the general mentality with optics in the game and how they can be better preserved for the future, as we continue to get new parts added into the game.
