I dared to stare down the well of shadows so full of broken skies and forgotten corners. The whispers in the mist rising from the dark stench caused my anxious breaths to look deeper. As I strained to see the unknown horrors, my balance was forever lost and down I fell.

The Atheist’s Prayer
He stood to his feet. His eyes opened. And his head tilted upward. He opened his mouth: “Earthly realm, hallowed be your name. You have begun and continue to be my place of work and rest. You are my only and the best. Until I explore even more, I will be a productive being in this world. I will trade with my fellow man and woman and reap benefits from your beautiful bounty. Mountains serve me along with water bodies and plains. It is all for me in my selfish way. I now appreciate that I can exploit you forever.”

Of Hate
Screaming and lifting my sword I rushed at the demon before me, with sweat in my eyes and blood in my mouth. The silver of my blade shone in the dancing moonlight, lighting my way forward. The demon was sized like an elephant, and roared back at me as my serrated blade glided through its flesh, again and again, until there was nothing but the ringing in my ears. With the last of my strength I plunged the sword deep into the monster’s body, pushing, pushing…. Until I could take no more and fell, bloodless, into the cold nightly abyss.
