No really, I'm not kidding or trying to be pun-ny, that's the name. Lets say it together; Incredbowl Korean Grill, if when you say it, you hear a chorus of angels in the background, you've probably been there before. As for me, it's my new and absolute favorite place to get takeout! You see, I live in the land of the Dietary Restrictions, in the township of Food Intolerance-ville, on the corner of, "Now What the Hell Can I Eat?" It even comes with it's own town crier who tallies up daily sugars and calories, surveys options and shouts back in response "you can't eat anything at all," as a public service.

The Question of Signor Ciccio
They who do not know ask - 'Who is Signor Ciccio?' - and I look at them across the fire and I smile, acknowledging the education bestowed upon me and the anticipation for the journey that they will make with me at their side. You can be damn certain that I'll be at their side. I hear them ask again, and people murmur, so many of us veterans unsure how best to respond - how to answer. For how do you answer a question like that without changing their life forever?

Shun Japanese kitchen
There are a few great restaurants in my area, but one to me just stands out. Shun Japanese Kitchen in Houston Texas. I remember the first time I went there. It was because of Facebook ads for their fluffy pancakes. Saw those for about a year before I finally decided to check them out. Turns out they were in a part of town I sometimes visit, just off of highway 59 on shepherd.

The Best Little Sushi Bar
I was fully an adult (and then some) when I first tried sushi. During a trip out to Las Vegas, taking my mom to see her granddaughter and meet her great-granddaughter, my daughter took us to Wayne’s Sushi and Karaoke bar. Wayne and his wife sang karaoke while creating lovely sushi for the diners in their tiny restaurant. We sat at the bar and watched Wayne, a Japanese man originally from Hawaiʻi, create his masterpieces right in front of us. The food was amazing, both beautiful and delicious, with colors and textures and tastes that were far beyond the narrative my imagination had created about eating sushi. Wayne’s running commentary was fascinating and he graciously made sushi my food-timid mother could enjoy. The who-would-eat-the-weirdest-thing competition between my partner and my daughter – something that Wayne encouraged, free of charge – was hilarious. We laughed and sang and ate sushi for hours. It was such an exquisite experience that I was totally won over to the sushi-eater column without my intention.

The Bistro: So Much More Than Good Food Everyone has memories of their college years that they wish they could preserve forever. How many, though get to re-experience a place where so many of these memories were held and almost are able to taste the nostalgia? I truthfully think not many. I attended my last two years of college where I grew up. Though I started at a school further away, medical issues with my mom and her need for my help called me home. Going to school in a town I grew up in, was an experience I thought would have been anti-climatic. However, experiencing the town as a college student catered an entirely different vibe.

In case you’re not familiar with the term, the turf is steak, and surf is a lobster tail. Typically, the steak is a filet minion or rib-eye. However, you should always ask because some restaurants consider sirloin strips and shrimp surf and turf. Nope, not to me.

Super Burrito, Better America
The United States, sometime probably in the 1980s, had undergone something of a change. Or, rather, an un-change. Drive along any interstate, get off on any exit, and you will find familiar corporate faces greeting your arrival. Some of the places you visit may seem different, but only superficially. Get off an exit in Wisconsin, Minnesota, or Iowa; you will find a Kwik Trip (or a Casey’s General Store). Around the East Coast, you’ll find a Wawa. Then there are your Circle K’s and RaceTrac’s and Sheetz. I’m not well versed on popular Southwest or West Coast gas chains, but the ones mentioned offer the faux-intrepid similar accommodations. But gas stations aren’t the only ubiquities a person might find, and their reach is far beyond Highway Hubs.

By Udana Power The Apple Pan is the 71-year-old home of the BEST Burger in Los Angeles. I had my first burger there some time before 1962. I remember that because I was still in high school. My date drove a cool turquoise and white ’57 Chevy. It was “lowered” (close to the ground) and rumbled the school windows when it cruised down Texas Avenue in front of Uni High. One day after school he took me out for a burger.
