Born in 1958.There's a lot of road beneath these feet.Worn out pairs upon pairs of shoes.Been a ranch kid,a city kid,a Marine,a dad, a grandfather now,an avid reader and just recently began writing poetry in 2015 just to vent.

CIGARETTES AND COFFEE: an affair 2/18/2025 I wrote this in February of this year but never posted it. Til now. Because it had marinated in time. Did you know some poetry is like fine wine? Not saying this poem is that good but time adds perspective.

STRANGE FRUIT BY BILLIE HOLIDAY
12-7-25 As if racism could ever be new. Racism is as old as prostitution-the oldest profession. It is an evil thing that infests humanity with its latest chosen victim and demands accountability from one group because of their audacity to be born different-whether skin color, location or religion or etc. I was listening to Billie Holiday's Strange Fruit for the first time and was struck by how the harvesters of hate will always have a new target to point their hatred at and are always able to justify their hate-no matter how wrong.

SERENDIPITY-a lovely coincidence involving ghosts
SERENDIPITY-a lovely coincidence involving ghosts 11/20/2025 It is raining out and my mind, in maudlin fashion, thinks of my 2 sisters in their little cemetery spots getting wet. Somehow, I make a connection to the internet being the new cemetery where ghosts prove their existence. Coincidentally, I run across an article about deceased artists that never received their due in life, but they haunt the internet-ghosts! I discovered Nick Drake & Eva Cassidy because of that article, and I held seance with their music as I wrote this not but an hour ago on this day. Half meandering confession/ half poetic:

Is it so hard to believe that there are worlds beyond our own planets? Inhabited worlds, lost worlds, worlds of water with different life. worlds just born and worlds at their end. How many have precipitated their own demise through hubris or belief in infallibility of Gods or Goddesses.
