Colombo by the Kelani River
Colombo is the capital of Sri Lanka. In history, it was a port on ancient east-west trade routes and has been ruled by the Portuguese, the Dutch, and the British. It is a city with a mixture of colonial buildings, high-rises, and shopping malls.

Exploring Brasilia
Brasilia succeeded Rio de Janeiro as the capital of Brazil in 1960. The city was built in less than three years and is located in the center of Brazil to help open up the western part of the country to tourism. The creative city planning was the work of Lucio Costa and Oscar Niemeyer with avant-garde architecture.

For the Love of a Lizard
Asian Water Monitors are large varanid lizards. They're native to South and Southeast Asia. These are among the most common monitor lizards in Asia. Asian Water Monitors are semiaquatic and are great swimmers. They have powerful legs and claws to climb trees to escape predators. They're carnivores and their diet consists of fish, frogs, rodents, birds, crabs, and snakes.

Kathmandu in the Kathmandu Valley
Nepal is a landlocked country in South Asia that is officially known as the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal. The official language is Nepali. The nation’s capital and largest city is Kathmandu. Several hundred years ago it was one of three rival royal cities, along with Bhaktapur and Patan. They are in close proximity one to the other and today they almost run together.

Impressive Rio de Janeiro
Rio de Janeiro is an amazing and exciting city in Brazil. It has a spectacular setting between the mountains and the sea. It has been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Rio is the second major city in Brazil and was the capital from 1763 to 1960. It was founded by Portuguese colonists in the mid 1500s. The city has a lovely harbor over which towers Sugar Loaf.

Spectacular Sao Paulo
Brazil is a vast country that stretches from the Amazon Basin in the north to vineyards and the massive Iguacu Falls in the south. Sao Paulo is a vibrant financial center and is one of the world’s most populous cities. It is the largest city in South America situated on the Piratininga Plateau surrounded by rivers that flow out into the interior. The city was founded in 1554 and became the gateway to the backcountry of Brazil.

Beautiful Islamabad
Islamabad is the capital city of Pakistan located in the Federal Islamabad Capital Territory. The city is the 10th largest city in the country. Islamabad’s twin city is Rawalpindi and quite often they are looked upon as being one. However, these two cities are not identical. Islamabad is a late 20th century capital while Rawalpindi grew out of a backwater village into a sprawling hub during the 19th century. The city has unique mosques, impressive architecture, interesting museums, and wonderful nature parks to explore.
