You Came Back

This time...

By Matthew BathamPublished about 12 hours ago Updated about 12 hours ago 1 min read

You came back

I wasn’t expecting that

Usually, they just pretend

Say 'see you later'

But there is no later

.

But you came back

.

I acted weird

That’s normally how it goes

I watched you walk away

I’ve seen that before

I said a silent goodbye

.

But you came back

.

Your seem uncertain

Standing in the doorway

Hands in pockets

Waiting for me to explain

I don't know what to say

.

They never come back

.

I hold you close

Say a dozen sorries

Breathe in your essence

Wonder how long until

I finally push you away

.

But this time, you came back
