Stumbling across the hard wood floors
On chubby legs still learning to run
Avoiding all the interior doors
Only aiming to learn the joys of having fun
---
Last not will the excited joys of youth
Eventually, stopped cold in their tracks by some form of pain
From the ouch of losing that first baby tooth
To the sorrow of being caught in life's many days of rain
---
First heartaches caused by the inevitability of loss
Be thankful for those who have loved and comforted you
Hold onto them at any and all cost
Remember the simple things like who taught you to tie a shoe
---
Then comes the hurt of that unruly first love
Held upon a pedestal you did see them upon
Thought that they fit into your life like a magic glove
Never would you have believed your friends telling you you're wrong
---
With every season comes a change to your life
From the springs and excited summers of your youthful times
Things change on into the falls and winters, when you've taken a wife
Or finally been caught up by all your past karmic crimes
---
Nothing lasts, not even all that is good
For everything great always comes to an end
Last forever, you wish that it would
Even the strongest of societies did eventually bend
---
Nothing that's planned always goes that way
As perfect as can be, there's just not a future you'll like
Best to remember it could have been a far worse day
For they used to put rebels heads in public, on a spike
About the Creator
Jason Morton
From fiction to reality there’s tons to share about this crazy life. From being a single father, an officer, and having had many insane adventures while I learned about the world, my imagination runs wild with ideas.
