Monkey With A Mobile Phone Adiction

A monkey sat high in a tree,

scrolling away, not looking at me.

His thumbs went tap tap all day long,

he even forgot his jungle song.

Bananas lay there going brown,

he missed the circus in the town.

A parrot squawked, come play, come swing,

he only said, wait, my phone must ping.

He missed the lions on parade,

he missed the shade where hammocks swayed.

He even missed his cousin’s dance,

all for a game of fruit and chance.

One day his phone just lost its spark,

the screen went black, the world went dark.

The monkey cried, he pulled his hair,

he sniffed the air and looked with care.

He saw the river, wide and bright,

he saw the sky, a glowing light.

He found a friend who made him grin,

and tossed his phone into the bin.

Now he climbs and leaps so free,

the jungle laughs with monkey glee.

But every now and then at night,

he dreams his phone turns back on bright.

So many people; these days are captivated/controlled by their phones. I always smile when I see a couple out to dinner and both of them are busy texting on their phones. Are they talking to each other? If not, why bother going to dinner?

OMG! Marie, that sounds like me - or at least the way I had been. Now, I've learned to turn it off periodically and enjoy those around me. This is a FANTASTIC poem.
