You climb the trees again, slowly —
I take my knees,
remembering you as the day is long.
Your metallic rays,
g l i s t e n i n g
on the pond's lonely skin, reflecting.
Rowing, rocking —
back and forth.
Sharing glances, shying eyes from bold advances.
Laden heat aches —
burning, unquenchable reaching
when you go back for more.
In my loss today, no remorse —
you've shown me things unseen yesterday,
leaving me to dream of fiery tresses
kissing the beaches' sloping shoulders.
In the morning, will I wake
when you rise, my faithful sunrise?
Will I deserve to dream you again?
Your light recedes, my dark concedes.
Even if years, unkind, unwind
this moment to moment —
tomorrow,
remembering you
as the day is long.
