Distant Flurries

A poem

Distant flurries of wild colours.

-

Reds, blacks and greys carved closer surroundings.

-

I struggled, treading water,

baking beneath

those pockets of heat.

All of those bricks and cages melted.

-

Burnt, blackened sand

amidst the ash of your lost world.

-

A gentle mechanical drone

stealing your last silences,

metal fingers

gripping tight.

-

A chokehold on barely kicking feet,

handcuffs around the ankles.

-

An inhuman eye absorbs every action

and imitates them

in its mirror.

-

A hand over the mouth.

-

It all seemed so certain, then.
