Darkness Begins and Begins Again
A Journey for anyone that experienced trauma
*This is a poem regarding the repeated memory of traumas. It can be anything at any age. Enjoy!*
My eyes are closed,
Each sleepless night,
I’m falling into darkness.
I dread what comes,
I know it’s coming.
Silent, and without knowing,
My body stiffens,
Each little limb,
Pinned by shadowed weight.
My throat is closing,
My chest is pounding,
I am gone,
Back to the undeserving.
I see me there,
My younger self,
Such little bones, unmoved.
I know she knows,
Just close your eyes,
Endless dreams consume.
When morning comes,
I feel the sting,
The imprint of what has been.
The daylight passes,
Consumed with dread,
It soon begins again.
One last time, I nod to darkness,
This time I try to beg,
This repertoire hoax, Of repeated pain,
Will soon come to an end.
