sorry

to break it

to you

but in order to continue

you must prove

that the thing inside you

is worthless

and has no reason to live.

you see,

even if it crawled inside

was injected

while you were held down

while you thrashed

while you ached

it is a gift

and you should want to keep it.

this is

what the book

tells us to speak.

when you go to get help

after seeing your future decided by someone else

we will be there

to remind you of the beauty of the thing inside.

it will thrash as you thrashed

but we care for it more.

to destroy it is a sin

and you will be blamed.

it will see as you see

speak as you speak

but once it walks as you walk

you will be repulsed

how could that thing be wanted?

when it was put inside you without love

it becomes an enemy

and it grew

and grew

and grew

until it consumed your mass

until it was the first they saw of you

and then they noticed his fingerprints

on your face

but how smooth is the skin on your belly

how plump your breast for feeding

the thing that eats and thrashes

and will not stop

even as it floats

and cannot know that it is not wanted

you must carry it

or you will be blamed

for not wanting the gift given to you

by a man, without love.
