if pain was but a silhouette
i’d try and turn off the sun
take a step reset the forget
and this course once set is begun
if pain was but a crawling stain
i’d take my fight to the dark
i’d try and lay waste to the light
shielded by a small and quiet spark
if pain was but a transient mist
nothing can end until it begins
a moment of atmospheric passing
still, i’d need to bargain with the winds
if pain was but a simple howl
i'd release it into the night
i’d yell until i was bloody hoarse
crush all the life from this blight
