A world in your eyes
Poetry about possibilities

When I look in your eyes,
I see an entire world
reflected back at me.
*
Twin galaxies
filled with stars.
Glimmering with possibility
*
And I know
the world you see
isn't the one you want.
*
Reality is futility.
A war of attrition,
and it feels like we're losing.
*
So let's bury the past.
Hold a funeral for it,
and leave roses on its grave.
*
That life is over,
our afterlife is here.
A new chapter begins.
*
I see heaven
reflected in those eyes,
and I want that here.
*
We'll get out of this place.
I'll move mountains.
Pull the stars to Earth.
*
Whatever it takes.
No matter how long.
I'll do it for us.
*
I'm taking that world
that rests in your gaze,
and I'm bringing it here.
*
Because you look at me
with celestial spheres,
and you see all the best parts.
*
You make me want to become
the best version of me,
as we build our perfect life.
*
So, please don't look down.
Keep those eyes on me.
Where they belong.
*
Take my hand.
Let's dive in.
Boldly, and without fear.
*
They say this world is what you make it.
So let's make ours.
Together.

i love this topic very much
I love this. Your poem is simple elegance. I love the brevity of your lines/stanzas. There is a lot of weight in saying very little. And I have not heard this song by Dermot Kennedy. It's going on a couple of my Spotify playlists. Awesome poem. ⚡💙 Bill ⚡
