You thought you knew it all... Chapters 1 and 2

By Christina BrennerPublished 6 years ago 3 min read

Intro

There once was a time where everything felt right. You live in a house with your perfect family, everyday you go to your perfect job, and always had a loving and perfect boyfriend. Your life is amazing. Then you grow up. You learn more and more about your "perfect" family to realize they aren't as perfect as you once believed. You realize your part time job was underpaying, even though everyone there was your other family. And that perfect boyfriend, questions every move you take. You've come to realize they aren't at all what they seemed…

Chapter 1

Life seems absolutely perfect when you are in pre-kindergarten. Mommy and Daddy were together and very supportive of your stick figure drawings and mispronounced words. Both sets of my grandparents were alive and very active in your life. Also, they lived close, which was always a bonus. Your mom's parents definitely spoiled me the most. They each taught you to ride a bike, and taught you to cook together. Mommy had two awesome jobs, she was a librarian and worked at a movie store, which meant books and movies, and you love that stuff. Daddy did construction with his dad and they ended up building beautiful, rich people houses for this nice company that always offered you lemonade. Life was simple, but elegant.

Soon life started to be an emotional rollercoaster for you. Daddy was drafted in the military shortly after mommy told you you were going to have a little brother. You're best friend held hands with the guy you liked, so you sat in the corner at school, read books to the best of your ability, and drew a bunch of pictures to give to mommy. But nothing seemed absolutely wrong yet, just felt a little different. Being only 5 at the time you didn't really understand the difference.

When your little brother was 2, Mommy began to have some internal issues and became very sick. Daddy had been back home from the military for almost a year now. He had broken his ankle, but pretended everything was fine. Mom, on the other hand, had to be emitted into the hospital. Come to find out her gallbladder had exploded and all the stuff from inside of it was making her sick. She went into immediate surgery and was in the hospital for quite a while.

School had gotten better for you now. You met this awesome guy at church whom you also had school with. His name was Robert and he was that nerdy guy friend that every girl wanted. You both became very close friends, but then you had to move. With Mommy in the hospital Daddy didn't know how to pay the bills so he wrote a bunch of checks out to "fix the problem" but those checks ended up bouncing and your parents had to file for bankruptcy.

Chapter 2

Middle school is when you started to grow up. You had a boyfriend, but he dumped you for another girl on Valentine's Day. You ran to the bathroom and cried just to realize this was only a test of strength. You thoguht you knew it all. Truth is, you don’t even know half of it.

You had only 3 friends after that - all guys. You didn’t really get along with other girls. You had a BIG crush on the older of the 3 guys and apparently he did too. You just didn’t realize it til you got together with one of the other guys from your social group. He ended up cheating on you and the older guy was so jealous he stopped talking to you. The other friend you had got popular and stopped talking to you as well.

You had nobody. Nobody but yourself til HE moved to town. He was a lot older than you. It was now 8th grade of Middle School. You had some problems still from your other failed relationship, yet you still chose to get close to him. You let down your guard around him. That was the biggest mistake you’ve ever made. You snuck him in through the backdoor while your parents were at work. You were only 12 at the time. You didn’t know any better. Hanging out meant something totally different to you. Way different. The start of Christmas break, December 23rd, 2013, you lost everything. He took everything away.
