When people hear about importing from China, they usually think you need a lot of money, connections, and experience. I used to think the same thing. But the truth is, you can actually start with very little and still build something real.
Let me tell you how I started.

At the beginning, I didn’t have a big budget. I didn’t even have a company. What I had was just curiosity and a phone. I started by searching on platforms like Alibaba and 1688. At first, everything looked complicated. Different suppliers, prices, shipping options… it felt overwhelming.
So I decided to simplify things.
Instead of trying to understand everything, I focused on one thing only: finding a product that people actually want. Not something fancy, not something expensive. Just a simple product that solves a problem.
For example, kitchen tools, home organizers, or small gadgets. These products are easy to ship and easy to sell.
Then I started messaging suppliers. I didn’t act like a big company. I was honest. I asked simple questions:
What is the minimum order?
Can I get a sample?
How long is shipping?
Some suppliers ignored me. That’s normal. But others replied, and that’s all you need.
Once I found a supplier I felt comfortable with, I ordered a sample. This step is very important. Never skip it. You need to see the product yourself before selling it.
After that, I didn’t go and buy 1,000 pieces. That’s a mistake many beginners make. I started small. Very small. Even 20 or 30 pieces is

enough.
Now comes the interesting part: selling.
I didn’t open a big store. I used social media. Instagram, TikTok, even WhatsApp. I took simple photos and videos. Nothing professional. Just real.
And guess what? People started asking.
The first sale feels different. It gives you confidence. Then you learn, improve, and grow step by step.
Importing is not about being perfect. It’s about starting.
If you wait until everything is clear, you will never begin.
Start small. Learn fast. And don’t be afraid to make mistakes.
